Texting and Driving: Why You Need to Book A Responsible Limo Company

Gem Limousine Chauffeurs

We all know texting and driving is a huge issue on our roads today. It’s one of the most dangerous things you can do when you are behind the wheel and it has resulted in countless accidents, injuries, and even fatalities.

A recent story from the New York area just goes to show that distracted driving is an issue with ALL DRIVERS, not just teenagers and inexperienced drivers.

A passenger recorded a cell phone video of their limousine driver texting while at the wheel of a 45 passenger limo bus enroute to the Hamptons.

Here is the footage:

The video clearly shows the driver spends more than 20 seconds with only one hand on the wheel and the other using his phone.

These actions are not acceptable!

Here is what the passenger that took the video had to say about the incident:

“I couldn’t even believe what we caught this driver doing,” she said to NBC New York.

Amanda said she posted the video to Facebook because “I want people to be aware that even if you’re being responsible and getting a limo driver, to be aware of who’s driving you.”

How did the limousine company react to the video?

The driver was fired immediately. “It’s in front of us in black and white; it looks like he is texting, so at that point we needed to fire him,” said Mark Vigliante, president of the limo company.

This story is a great reminder that you need to take your time and choose a limo company that has a great reputation and a track record of being safe and responsible. All limo companies are not the same.
