Tips for Planning your Limo Rental Around Summer Traffic Delays

traffic-delay

How does that saying go? There’s only two seasons in Canada: winter and construction. And as summer heats up, so does the construction season. That means road closures, and lots of delays, particularly in the GTA.

If you have an event coming up this summer where you will be renting a limousine, then surely the idea that your ride may be delayed due to summer delays has occurred to you. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when planning your summer limousine rental:

  • Do your research. Most major roadways and cities will provide a list of closures and delays on their website. This could include closures for cleaning, events, or even construction. If you have a route that you frequent you may also want to see if they have a handle on Twitter, as this will provide you with up-to-date information about any delays.

BONUS: Here is some traffic websites that provide a real time look at traffic: http://here.com/traffic, http://www.cbc.ca/toronto/features/traffic/, http://www.cp24.com/commuter-centre, https://www.google.ca/maps/preview

  • Plan accordingly. Even if there are no listed road closures, or known construction along your route, you should still allow yourself lots of time to get to where you need to be on-time. As a general rule, the roads tend to be busier during the summer, and the closure of other major routes may lead to additional traffic on your route. Make sure you allow yourself lots of extra time.
  • Talk to the experts.  Talk to your limousine company about your concerns. At Gem Limousine our seasoned limo drivers are quite familiar with routes throughout the GTA, and will know several alternate routes to get you to your destination on time. We would be more than happy to discuss alternate route options with you. Make sure that you have a back-up plan in place in case there are delays.

While road construction and delays can cause stress, there is no reason why they have to. If you plan ahead, and do your research, there is no reason why road delays have to affect your day at all. And when all else fails, let the experts take care of you and get you where you need to be on time! Driving is our forte – We will get you to where you need to be – On Time!
